20 Questions to Ask Kids Before the Service / Class Starts

Pre-service or pre-class is a great time to interact with the children. If you will spend time talking with them before the service, they will listen to what you have to say during the service.

What are some things you can talk with them about? Here are 20 questions you can ask kids to get the conversation started.

How did your week go? What was the best part of your week?

What's your favorite video game (or toy) that you like to play?

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you? (share yours as well)

Do you have any pet(s)? If so, tell me about your pet(s). (share about a pet you had growing up)

What's your favorite kind of candy? (share yours as well)

What do you like to do for fun?

What is your favorite color?

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Where is one of the coolest places you have gone to on vacation?

What is your favorite Bible story? (share about yours as well)

What is your favorite movie?

What is your favorite book?

If you could open a store, what would you sell?

What is something that you are really good at?

When is your birthday?

If you had $100, what would you spend it on?

Who is your favorite superhero? If you were a superhero, who would you want to be?

Can you tell me a joke? (you can tell one as well)

What is your favorite holiday?

Do you have any brothers or sisters? Tell me about them.

When it comes to getting kids to open up and talk, asking open-ended questions can be great conversation starters. Feel free to print these and give them to your volunteers to use with kids.
